Microsoft Outlook 98, and 2000
If you are an Excite Email Gold subscriber and would like to use Outlook 98 or 2000 to access and manage your account, you need to designate a new account in Outlook to access your Excite Inbox. To do so, open Outlook and complete the following steps:
  • From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"
  • Select "Add Mail..."
  • Enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
    • Your Name: Enter Your Name (e.g.: Jane Smith)
    • E-mail Address: Your Excite Email Address (e.g.: user@excite.com)
    • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop3.excite.com
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.excite.com
    • Account Name: (This box should automatically fill in based on the information entered in the E-mail Address box. However, you must add @excite.com in order for log in to be enabled.e.g.: user@excite.com)
    • Password: Your Excite Email Password (You can enter your password here and Outlook will remember it. If you'd like to enter your password each time Outlook checks your mail than uncheck the "Remember Password" box).
  • Click "Next"
  • Select the method you connect to the Internet
  • Click "Next"
  • Click "Finish"
  • Click the "Properties" button
  • Click the "Servers" tab
    • Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the box marked "My server requires authentication."
  • Click "Apply"
  • Click "Ok"
  • Click "Close"

Microsoft Outlook 2002 and 2003

  • From the "Tools" menu, select "E-mail Accounts..."
  • Select "Add a new e-mail account" and click "Next"
  • Select "POP3" and click "Next"
  • Enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
  • Your Name: Enter Your Name (e.g.: Jane Smith)
  • E-mail Address: Your Excite Email Address (e.g.: user@excite.com")
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop3.excite.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.excite.com
  • User Name: (This box should automatically fill in based on the information entered in the E-mail Address box. However, you must add @excite.com in order for log in to be enabled.e.g.: user@excite.com)
  • Password: Your Excite Email Password (You can enter your password here and Outlook will remember it. If you'd like to enter your password each time Outlook checks your mail than uncheck the 'Remember Password' box).
  • Click the "More Settings" button
    • Click the "Outgoing Server" tab
    • Check the box marked "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
    • Click "Ok"
  • Click "Next"
  • Click "Finish"

    Microsoft Outlook Express 6

    • From the "Tools Menu" select "Accounts"
    • Click the "Add" button
    • Choose "Mail" and click "Ok"
    • Enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
      • Your Name: Enter Your Name (e.g.: Jane Smith)
      • E-mail Address: Your Excite Email Address (e.g.: user@excite.com)
      • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop3.excite.com
      • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.excite.com
      • Account Name: (This box should automatically fill in based on the information entered in the E-mail Address box. However, you must add @excite.com in order for log in to be enabled.e.g.: user@excite.com)
      • Password: Your Excite Email Password (You can enter your password here and Outlook Express will remember it. If you'd like to enter your password each time Outlook Express checks your mail than uncheck the 'Remember Password' box).
    • Click "Next"
    • Click "Finish"
    • Click the "Properties" button
      • Click the "Servers" tab
      • Check the box marked "My server requires authentication
      • Click "Apply"
      • Click "Ok"
    • Click "Close"

    Mac Mail 1.3.11 Settings
    • Click on "Mail" from toolbar and select "Preferences"
    • Click "Accounts" icon and click on the "+" symbol at the bottom left corner

    Account Information:
    • Enter the appropriate information in the following fields:
      • Account Type: POP
      • Description: Enter a name for your account (e.g.: Excite Email)
      • Email Address: Your Excite Email Address (e.g.: user@excite.com)
      • Full Name: (e.g.: Jane Smith)
      • Incoming Server: pop3.excite.com
      • User: Your Excite Email Address (e.g.: user@excite.com)
      • Password: Your Excite Email Password
      • Outgoing Server: smtp.excite.com
    • Click "Server Settings" button
    • Enter the appropriate information in the following fields:
      • Port: 25
      • Authentication: password
      • User: Your Excite Email Address (e.g.: user@excite.com)
      • Password: Your Excite Email Password
    • Click "OK"
    • Select the "Advanced" tab
    • Enter the appropriate information in the following fields:
      • Port: 110
      • Password: Your Excite Email Password
    • Now click on the "General" icon from the toolbar and be sure to "Save" your settings.


    POP Settings – Other POP3 Clients
    If you are an Excite Email Gold subscriber and would like to use a POP3 client to access and manage your account, you need to designate a new incoming (POP) mail server and a new outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Below are the basic server settings for Excite Email. For more specifics on how to designate new servers on your particular system, please refer to the help pages of your POP3 client.

    Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop3.excite.com

    Outgoing Mail (STMP) Server: smtp.excite.com

    Account Name/Login Name: Your Excite Email address (For example, if your Email address user123@excite.com, your login name is: user123@excite.com)

    Email Address: Your Excite Email address (i.e. user123@excite.com)

    Password: Your Excite Email password

    SMTP Authentication: Enable Server Authentication
